Of prophets and angels

1 Peter 1

  • remember, you are saved by God
    • the angels can only look at our salvation
  • fulfilled prophecy is one of the best pieces of evidence for the integrity of the Bible
  • prepare your minds, gird up the loins of your mind (v. 13)
    • it is the mind that serves the Lord; the body serves the flesh
    • our mind must be free to receive the Word of God
    • sanctification
      • renewing of your mind
    • get rid of things that hinder your walk with God
    • worry
    • fear (vs confidence)
      • be deliberate, but think. Don’t fear.
      • 1 Jn 4:18
    • envy
      • only enjoying the things of others
      • hatred
    • not forgiving others
    • impurity
      • 1 Thess 4:3
      • pure minds
    • temptation
      • apostle Paul was there too

        • it starts in the mind
